Eric Clifford Ambler OBE (28 June 1909 – 22 October 1998) was an English author of thrillers, in particular spy novels, who introduced a new realism to the genre. Also working as a screenwriter, Ambler used the pseudonym Eliot Reed for books co-written with Charles Rodda.
Eric Ambler (born June 28, 1909, London, England—died October 22, 1998, London) was a British author and screenwriter widely regarded as one of the most distinguished writers of espionage and crime stories. Ambler was the son of music-hall entertainers. After studying engineering at London University, he worked as an advertising writer.
