The Straw Hat is run by Peter Parles and his wife Anne Parles. The two moved to the island in 1996 to open the restaurant. Peter used to work in New York as the Associate Producer of Nickelodeon television show, Blue's Clues. My parents first ate at the Straw Hat in March 2003 with a few friends from the island.
With Peter Parles at Straw Hat in 2002 Straw Hat captured our hearts (and our taste buds) from one of our very first visits to Anguilla. The consistent cuisine, the friendly yet professional service, and of course, the owners, Peter and Anne Parles. Every aspect kept us coming back trip after trip, meal after meal.
Feb 25, 2016 · The Parles worked for 12 years at this unique establishment that was built on stilts, and hovered above the same water where fisherman caught the nightly dinner entrees. In 2008, Anne and Peter moved their restaurant operation to their present-day location on stunning Mead’s Bay, Anguilla’s foodie epicenter.
Jul 20, 2020 · Peter and Anne Parles became residents of Anguilla back in 1996. The team wanted to carve their own piece of Heaven and contribute to the beauty and experience of Anguilla and that same year they launched Straw Hat. Unfortunately in 1998 Hurricane Georges hit the Island hard, destroying the restaurant.
