A commercial and press photographer, Hogan was "embedded" with Free State troops during the Irish Civil War. He had a photography studio (and later wireless/radio business) in Henry Street, Dublin during the 1920s and 1930s.
W.D. Hogan is known as an Director, Storyboard Artist, and Production Design. Some of his work includes Zodiac, Independence Daysaster, A Moving Romance, Brimming with Love, The Wedding Do Over, Late Bloomer, Letter Never Sent, and Unusual Suspects.
