Edward Yang (Chinese: 楊德昌; pinyin: Yáng Déchāng; November 6, 1947 – June 29, 2007) was a Taiwanese filmmaker. He rose to prominence as a pioneer in the Taiwanese New Wave of the 1980s, alongside fellow auteurs Hou Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang .
Edward Yang (1947-2007) was a writer, director and actor who ranked among the leading artists of the Taiwanese New Wave. He created films analyzing and revealing the themes of city and urban life, such as Yi Yi, A Brighter Summer Day and The Terrorizers.
