Sep 24, 2018 · Gary Kurtz, a legendary film producer who launched the original “Star Wars” trilogy alongside George Lucas, has died. He was 78. Friends and colleagues say Kurtz had been fighting cancer for about a year. He died Sunday in North London, England, according to a family statement provided by his daughter, Tiffany Hillkurtz.
