She is perhaps most famous for appearing with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company between 1899 and 1903 and a mezzo-soprano chorister, later taking the principal roles of Kate in "The Pirates of Penzance" and the eponymous role in "Iolanthe".

Sep 1, 2007 · Louie Pounds (1887, 1899-1903) Louisa Emma Amelia Pounds was the youngest of five siblings who appeared with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Her older brother Courtice was a principal tenor in the 1880s and '90s, and she had three sisters (Lily, Nancy, and Rosy) who appeared with D'Oyly Carte companies on tour and at the Savoy.
Miss Louie Pounds's first stage experiences were with The Gaiety Girl and An Artist's Model. With the latter, in which she was the original Amy Cripps, Miss Pounds went to America in 1897, appearing at the Broadway Theatre, New York, and later at Boston and Philadelphia.
