In 1798 William Black set aside 38 acres of his land to establish the village of Blacksburg. The great grandson of Samuel Black was Harvey Black, the father of Alexander Black, a prominent businessman in the town. Alexander Black lived in a house typical of Blacksburg design at that time.

Alexander Anthony ″Alex″ Black (born April 20, 1989) is an American actor. Black was born in Redwood City, California. He has appeared in several popular movies; he portrayed Seth Powers in Nickelodeon 's hit series, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, as well as a minor role on Charmed.
Alexander Black was a first generation American, the son of immigrants from Scotland. This is the family tree as compiled by Carl Black II, Alexander’s great grandson.
