Actor. Maude George was an American actress of the silent era. Career. Maude George is remembered primarily as a regular of director Eric von Stroheim"s stock company of actors appearing in four of von Stroheim"s lengthy films in the 1920s. She appeared in 59 films between 1915 and 1929.
A matronly actress no longer in the bloom of youth, silver-haired Maude George was transformed by iconoclastic director Erich Von Stroheim into a distinctive erotic presence, first as a modiste in the now-lost The Devil's Passkey (1920) and then, memorably, as the fake Princess Olga in Foolish Wives (1922).
