ACTOR and boxing identity Gus Mercurio has died after complications during surgery. Mercurio, 82, died in the operating theatre while having surgery to repair an aneurism in his chest at Epworth Eastern Hospital in Box Hill yesterday. He died about 3.30pm, with doctors spending almost an hour trying to revive him.
