In its last meeting of the 2023 Spring semester, the Committee on Instruction (COI) affirmed two significant changes to the undergraduate curriculum for Columbia College and the Columbia School of General Studies, which will go into effect in Fall 2024:

Transfer students enrolling in Columbia College may petition for exemption from certain Core courses on the basis of relevant transfer credit. The three most common areas to receive exemptions are University Writing, Global Core, and Science.
Columbia College is the oldest undergraduate college of Columbia University, a private Ivy League research university in New York City. Situated on the university's main campus in Morningside Heights in the borough of Manhattan, it was founded by the Church of England in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of King George II of Great Britain.
