TV Tropes is a wiki that collects and documents descriptions and examples of plot conventions and devices, which it refers to as tropes, within many creative works.
A trope is a storytelling device or convention, a shortcut for describing situations the storyteller can reasonably assume the audience will recognize. Tropes are the means by which a story is told by anyone who has a story to tell.
Above all, a trope is a convention. It can be a plot trick, a setup, a narrative structure, a character type, a linguistic idiom... you know it when you see it. Tropes are not inherently disruptive to a story; however, when the trope itself becomes intrusive, distracting the viewer rather than serving as shorthand, it has become a cliché.

A genre is a particular type of literature, painting, music, film, or other art form which people consider as a class because it has special characteristics. Though, of course, genres are not necessarily mutually exclusive, and many series do straddle multiple genres.
TV Tropes is where creativity goes to die and it's a terrible resource for anyone following their artistic pursuits. Writers in particular. It's fun to read when you're high though.
It is, the beings that do the actions being narrated by the narrative. Basically one of the most super of tropes in all of fiction. Unless you're writing some sort of abstract poem, it's pretty much impossible to tell a story without characters . Compare Conflict and Plots .

Examples: Life is Strange, Scooby-Doo, Riverdale, Wayne, Euphoria, Scream. I feel like it's a very common plot to have children that should be enjoying School and their youth investigating plots way above their pay grade, but I couldn't find a specific page on TV Tropes.
