Gary Sherman (born 28 August 1945) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer from Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for his prolific work in the horror film genre, directing films such as Death Line, Dead & Buried, and Poltergeist III.

Sherman started out as a filmmaker by making music clips and short movies in the mid 60s which where early precursors to MTV music videos.

Gary Sherman is a director’s director. In a more just world, he’d also be a household name—at least in cinephile households—and enjoy a stature similar to John Carpenter. That Carpenter comparison isn’t a random one, as the two have more than a little in common with one another.
