   It's located on a 7-acre site in the Village of Roslyn Harbor on Long Island. Besides the beautiful house which has recently been restored, the property has a large pond (actually a small lake), boathouse, old mill (also recently restored) and landscape gardens designed by Bryant himself.

   Best known at the home of the prominent 19th century poet and newspaper editor, William Cullen Bryant, Cedarmere was one of the oldest houses in Roslyn Harbor when Bryant purchased it in 1843. Richard Kirk, a Quaker farmer who also ran a fulling mill on the property, constructed the original section of the building in 1787.

   Such a beautiful natural setting on Hempstead Harbor in Roslyn. Had a wonderful guided tour of the beautiful grounds at Cedarmere. Could imagine being a guest of William Cullen Bryant in the 1800s there. Great tree specimens, water views, dusk lighting, bird sightings.
