The adjacent office was built to facilitate the work of preparing the sealing and endowment temple ordinances for the dead, conducted for the first time in the St. George Utah Temple.
For several years, President Brigham Young spent the winter months in this home in St. George, Utah. He first purchased the home in 1868. The structure was expanded and remodeled in time for President Young's visit during the winter of 1873-74. The Young family owned the home until 1882.
