Overview. Returning to her hometown from New York, Susan Applegate learns that she hasn't enough for the train fare and disguises herself as a twelve-year-old to travel for half the price.
A young woman is unable to afford the train fare to her home town in Iowa so pretends to be a 12-year-old girl in order to pay half-fare. On the train the conductors start to get suspicious and she runs from them, hiding in the compartment of an Army Major.
