The "Little Mo" tournaments are hosted by MCB in honor of tennis champion Maureen Connolly. Known by her nickname "Little Mo", she was the first woman to win the calendar Grand Slam in 1953. She is still the only American woman and the youngest at age 18 to have accomplished this magnificent feat.
Maureen Catherine Connolly-Brinker (née Connolly; September 17, 1934 – June 21, 1969), known as "Little Mo", was an American tennis player, the winner of nine major singles titles in the early 1950s. In 1953, she became the first woman to win a Grand Slam (all four major tournaments during the same calendar year).
Maureen "Little Mo" Slater (also Morgan and Mitchell) is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Kacey Ainsworth from 18 September 2000 to 26 May 2006.
Nicknamed “Little Mo,” the 5-foot-4-inch dynamo used powerful groundstrokes to become the first woman to win all four major tennis tournaments in a calendar year. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp.

May 21, 2018 · The personable, five-foot-three-inch teen-aged slammer became known affectionately as "Little Mo," after she won the national junior championship. The nickname, coined by a reporter, was derived from the "Big Mo," a term used in reference to the battleship U.S.S. Missouri.
