The House in Montevideo (German: Das Haus in Montevideo) is a 1963 German comedy film directed by Helmut Käutner and starring Heinz Rühmann, Ruth Leuwerik and Paul Dahlke. The film was based on the 1945 play The House in Montevideo by Curt Goetz, which had previously been turned into a film in 1951. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich.
A respectable professor inherits a house and money in Montevideo from his wild sister, on the condition that he himself behaves in a disreputable way.
With Curt Goetz, Valerie von Martens, Albert Florath, Lia Eibenschütz. A straight-laced German schoolmaster, married with twelve children, finds that his daughter has inherited a house in South America from her aunt, who was banished from the family for her loose morals.
