The paths of two aspiring actors meet when Amalgamated Pictures talent scout Thomas Brooke (Roland Young) sets out on a cross-country quest to find the next big Hollywood star. Brooke's mission leads him to Arizona, where he recruits football player Bud Borden (John Payne), and then on to Arkansas, where he is impressed by the naive but eager Carolyn Sayres (Linda Darnell).
