The Committee was a San Francisco-based improvisational comedy group founded by Alan Myerson and Jessica Myerson (formerly known as Irene Ryan and Irene Riordan, later known as Latifah Taormina). The Myersons were both alums of The Second City in Chicago.

Roger Ebert reviews The Committee, a film adaptation of a stage comedy troupe from the West Coast. He compares it with Second City, a similar group from Chicago, and finds it derivative and disappointing.
A dark, surreal satire about a man who decapitates a businessman while hitchhiking and is later summoned to a mysterious committee. The film features a soundtrack by Pink Floyd and a performance by Arthur Brown.
The Committee’s main mission was to afflict the comfortable. In one skit, a governor, prison chaplain and prison warden are sympathetically wringing their hands about the fate of a prisoner about to be executed. When the electric chair goes on the fritz, the trio beat the man to death by hand.
