In the Canadian Rockies, trapper Andre Dupas (Jean Coutu) and his Alaskan Malemute companion, Nikki, take in a stray bear cub. When a canoe accident separates the animals from their master, Nikki and the bear cub are left to survive the harsh Canadian wilderness on their own.
