Ohio's Largest and Most Beautiful Cavern. Tours take guests through two different parts of the cavern. The Historic Tour begins at the site of discovery and includes the area that was originally explored from 1897 to 1925. The Natural Wonder Tour takes guests on a 1 mile walk through parts discovered after 1925.
- Olentangy Indian Caverns. Distance from Downtown Columbus: 23 miles. Growing up, some of my favorite field trips were to the Olentangy Indian Caverns. I visited with my school and summer camps and it was fun no matter the season.
- Rockbridge State Nature Preserve. Distance from Downtown Columbus: 44 miles. Rockbridge is a marvel of nature. Its name comes from the fact that a rock formation spans across an area creating a bridge.
- Ohio Caverns. Distance from Downtown Columbus: 52 miles. The Ohio Caverns are a marvel that were made from limestone, a little water, and a lot of time. It attracts visitors from all over the nation.
- Rock House in Hocking Hills State Park. Distance from Downtown Columbus: 54 miles. Rock House is the only true cave structure inside of Hocking Hills State Park.

Myfamily explored Crystal Cavein 2011 while on a family outing on Put-in-Bay. Quite amazingly, this is the world’s largest geode (you know, the kind of crystal that looks like a rock on the outside, and you bust it open to see the crystal inside? This one is 35 feet in diameter!
Permanently closed in February 2019, Indian Trail Caverns was home to Sheriden Cave. This is an old cave that has been open to humans since the Clovis Age of Native Americans.
