55 Days at Peking is a 1963 American epic historical war film dramatizing the siege of the foreign legations' compounds in Beijing (then still Peking, in English) during the Boxer Uprising, which took place in China in the summer of 1900.
Based on the 1900 Boxer Rebellion, the film depicts the siege of the International Compound in Peking by Chinese rebels. Starring Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, and David Niven, the film was nominated for two Oscars and shot in Spain with hundreds of Chinese extras.
