In this made-for-TV movie, attorney Harmon Cobb (Walter Matthau) comes to the aid of his old friend Judge Bell (Harry Morgan) in a small Illinois town. It seems the judge is accused of killing the biological father of his grandson. As the crime is laid out in the courtroom, it pulls back the curtain on disturbing family secrets involving Bell's daughter, Lily (Stephanie Zimbalist).
