As the most musically innovative member of the Skatalites, Drummond was one of the most important architects of ska, a genre which helped to lay the foundation for reggae and dancehall.
Don Drummond quickly became one of the most sought-after musicians and arrangers. When producers assembled recording bands, they often had to arrange auditions to find a vocalist, searching for the next star among countless young hopefuls, all eager to create the next big hit.
Don Drummond is a former senior official in the federal Department of Finance, Chief Economist at TD Bank and a scholar at Queen's University. He led the Drummond Commission on Ontario's public services reform and received the Order of Ontario in 2015.
