Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset (c. 15 June 1519 – 23 July 1536) was the son of Henry VIII of England and his mistress Elizabeth Blount, and the only child born out of wedlock whom Henry acknowledged.

Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset (1519-36), was the illegitimate son of Henry VIII by Elizabeth Blount, a lady-in-waiting to Catherine of Aragon. The child was officially acknowledged by the King after the early deaths of the three sons born to the Queen.
On 7th June 1525 at the age of six, Henry FitzRoy was made a Knight of the Garter at St George's Chapel, Windsor. On 18 June of the same year, he was elevated to peerage when his father created him Duke of Richmond and Somerset and Earl of Nottingham at a glittering ceremony, which took place at Bridewell.
Sep 1, 2020 · In a ceremony at London’s grand Bridewell Palace, the boy was made Earl of Nottingham and then Duke of both Richmond and Somerset. The “right high and noble prince”, as the youngster was now styled, had become the highest ranking member of the English nobility.
After his elevation to the peerage, Fitzroy was referred to on official documents as “right high and noble prince Henry, Duke of Richmond and Somerset.” He was given a complete education fitting a Royal Prince and given an annual income of £4845.

Henry Fitzroy (1519–36) was the son of Henry VIII and Elizabeth Blount, a Lady in Waiting to Katherine of Aragon. His illegitimacy meant he had no claim upon the throne, but he was created a Knight of the Garter, and Duke of Richmond and Somerset aged six.

FitzRoy, Henry, duke of Richmond (1519–36). FitzRoy was Henry VIII's illegitimate son by Elizabeth Blount, a lady-in-waiting to Catherine of Aragon. Since Henry had no surviving male heir until 1537, and his marriage to Catherine was disputed, the future of FitzRoy produced much comment.
