- Horatio Nelson was born in 1758 in Norfolk. He was the son of Edmund, a clergyman, and Catherine, who died when he was nine years old.

Horatio Nelson 1st Viscount. Duke of Bronte. 1758-1805. He was born on 29 September 1758, the third surviving son of Edmund Nelson, rector of Burnham Thorpe in Norfolk, and of his wife, Catherine Suckling. He was the nephew of Captain Maurice Suckling, who became the Comptroller of the Navy.
