Baron Theophil Edvard von Hansen (German: [ˈteːofiːl fɔn ˈhanzn̩]; original Danish name: Theophilus Hansen, pronounced [tsʰe̝oˈfiːlus ˈhænˀsn̩]; 13 July 1813 – 17 February 1891) was a Danish architect who later became an Austrian citizen.
Theophil von Hansen. Born in Copenhagen in 1813 Hansen moved to Vienna in 1846. His first job here was with future father-in-law Ludwig Förster. This led to the construction of the Arsenal. Today it hosts the Museum of Military History.

Theophil Hansen (*1813 in Copenhagen, †1891 in Vienna) was a Danish-Austrian architect and an important figure in classicism and historicism. After an apprenticeship with Karl Friedrich Schinkel and studies in Vienna, the young Hansen moved to Athens to study Greek architecture. His first ever commission was the Athens Observatory.
The Academy of Fine Arts was constructed as a classical building from 1872 to 1876 according to plans by the star architect of the time, Theophil Hansen. After three and a half years of general refurbishment, it has appeared in new splendor again since October 2021.
