Walter Ernst Paul Ulbricht (* 30. Juni 1893 in Leipzig; † 1. August 1973 in Groß Dölln) war ein deutscher kommunistischer Politiker und Diktator. Von 1950 bis 1971 war er der Machthaber der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (DDR), und prägte in dieser Zeit den Aufbau und die Entwicklung der DDR zum sozialistischen Staat.
