The lower campground is scenic, with historic CCC buildings from the 1930s and very friendly and hard working rangers. And the forest is convenient (maybe too convenient!) to Pittsfield. I give Pittsfield State Forest 5 stars for scenery and helpful rangers, 3 stars for noise, so 4 overall.

Aug 1, 2017 · Pittsfield State Forest is BEAUTIFUL! Many picnic tables, lots of hiking trails, a really gorgeous scenic road, streams, a pond and probably more that we didn't even see. We were there during peak foliage time and it was just stunning.
