Aimery of Lusignan ( Latin: Aimericus, Greek: Αμωρί, Amorí; [1] before 1155 – 1 April 1205), erroneously referred to as Amalric or Amaury in earlier scholarship, was the first King of Cyprus, reigning from 1196 to his death. He also reigned as the King of Jerusalem from his marriage to Isabella I in 1197 to his death.
Aimery was the fifth son of king Hugh III of Cyprus and his consort Isabella of Ibelin. He has four older siblings, John I, Bohemond, Henry II, and Amalric, and five younger ones, Guy, Maria, Margaret, Alice, Helvis and Elizabeth. His brother Henry II, king of Cyprus and Jerusalem, appointed him Constable of the kingdom of Cyprus in 1303.
