Now located on West Cherokee Avenue in Cartersville, the church began on November 6, 1844, when the Rev. Thomas Scott, of St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta, and Bishop Stephen Elliott, the first bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, visited the Etowah River.
