Sir William Timothy Gowers, FRS (/ ˈ ɡ aʊ. ər z /; born 20 November 1963) is a British mathematician. He is Professeur titulaire of the Combinatorics chair at the Collège de France, and director of research at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.

Timothy Gowers (born November 20, 1963, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England) is a British mathematician who won the Fields Medal in 1998 for his work in the theory of Banach spaces. Gowers studied undergraduate mathematics at the University of Cambridge and went on to finish his doctorate there in 1990.
