May 19, 2023 · Lida Castle is an example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture of the 14th-15th centuries, which holds an honorable place among the iconic Belarusian historical and cultural monuments. Its history spans exactly 700 years. During this time, the citadel has witnessed numerous events, survived wars, fires, and enemy attacks.
The Lida Castle is the only castel castle in Belarus. It was erected in 1323 at the confluence of the Lidae and Kamenka rivers by the Grand Duke of Lithuania – Gedimin. According to literary sources, for seven incomplete centuries the Lida Castle played a significant role in history.
