  2. Jan 2, 2023 · East of Eden is much more character-focused in a much smaller world. The socio-economic themes are less involved, but the writing is exceptional. Steinbeck felt he had put the benefits of his experience, the lessons of technique and style, to best use in East of Eden and I would have to agree.

  5. East of Eden Book Review: My Take, Why its worth a read I’ll be upfront, this book isn’t for everyone. But I found it incredible and enlightening. I’ve even gone on record saying it’s my favorite book of all time. But it’s not an easy read, it’s challenging and can be slow at times.
