The Black Donnellys were an Irish Catholic family who settled in Ontario in the 1840s and faced conflicts with local residents. They were attacked by a vigilante mob in 1880, leaving five dead and their farm burned, and their story is preserved at a museum.
Narrated by wannabe gangster Joey "Ice Cream," this gritty series bears witness to the Donnelly brothers' sudden involvement in organized crime, focusing on how they go from boys to mobsters, and showing how their new life affects their relationships with friends, family and lovers.
