Created and produced by Dick Wolf and René Balcer , the series premiered on September 30, 2001, as the third series in Wolf's successful Law & Order franchise .
A crime drama series that follows the NYPD's Major Case Squad as they investigate high-profile cases and show the crimes from the perpetrator's point of view. Starring Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Jamey Sheridan and others, the show ran for 10 seasons from 2001 to 2011.
