The Defenders is a 2017 Netflix series that features the superheroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. It is a crossover event and the culmination of four previous Marvel and Netflix series, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On April 15, 2016, it was announced that Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirezwould serve as showrunners of the series. On October 31, 2016, it was reported that the series had begun production under the working title "Group Therapy". On February 17, 2019, Jeph Loebwrote a letter to the fans of the canceled Marvel Netflix series.
