Season 33 is the 33rd season of The Simpsons premiered on September 26, 2021, with "The Star of the Backstage" and concluded with "Poorhouse Rock" on May 22, 2022.
It was announced when Al Jean confirmed on his Twitter that there will be a 32nd Treehouse of Horror episode. This season is the first since Season 12 where Al Jean is not be the showrunner, although he will be running 4 episodes. Matt Selman, originally a part-time showrunner since Season 23, serves as the main showrunner for the season, making it his first season as showrunner. This is also the first season under the 20th Television Animation branding. This is also the final season to have Chris Ledesma as music editor.
On March 3, 2021, it was announced that The Simpsons had been renewed for Season 33 and Season 34. Season 33 came to Disney+ on October 5, 2022.
