Andromeda (formally titled Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) is a space opera television series, based on unused material by Gene Roddenberry, developed by Robert Hewitt Wolfe, and produced by Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett. [2]

While preparing the corpse of Dylan's former first officer and friend, Gaheris Rhade, for transport to the remainder of his clan, the Andromeda experiences something strange. A live Rhade appears before Beka and Trance to destroy the tesseract machine.
The Commonwealth vessel Andromeda, captained by Dylan Hunt, responds to a distress call only to find it's a trap. Warships surround them and open fire. In a last ditch attempt, Capt. Hunt evacuates the ship and it gets trapped in the gravity well of a black hole where time slows dramatically.
