31 Reviews. Hide Spoilers. Sort by: Filter by Rating: 8/10. A joy to watch still. Sleepin_Dragon 5 April 2019. First of all, I find it hard to believe that this launched way back in 1991. Apart from the cars and clothes, it hasn't dated, the humour has remained raucous, relevant and divinely silly.

Chris Barrie played titular character Gordon Brittas, the well-intentioned but hugely incompetent manager of the fictional Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre.

• 2 yr. ago. SoMaJo75. The Brittas Empire. As a teenager during the time when this show first aired, I adored this show, but haven’t really seen it since. It has now landed on BritBox UK and I’m about half way through and am loving it all over again, but appreciating it in a different way.
Chris Barrie plays Gordon Brittas, the well-meaning but incompetent manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre. The show ran for seven series and 53 episodes — including two Christmas specials — from 1991 to 1997 on BBC1.
