The fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race announced its cast on November 16th, 2012, and premiered on January 28, 2013. The winner of Season 5 walked away with the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar," along with a lifetime supply of Colorevolution Cosmetics, a one of a kind trip courtesy of AlandChuck.travel, a headlining spot on Logo's Drag Race Tour featuring Absolut Vodka, and a cash prize of $100,000.
The winner of Season 5 was Jinkx Monsoon, with Alaska and Roxxxy Andrews placing as the runners-up. Ivy Winters won the Miss Congeniality award at the finale as voted by the audience.

•Episode 4 included the first double elimination in series history.
•In Episode 7, Alyssa Edwards and Roxxxy Andrews ended up in the bottom two, but both got a second chance to stay as there was no elimination that week.
•No elimination occurred in Episode 12 as the winner was crowned during Episode 14, the reunion episode.
•Episode 13 is a recap episode with never-before seen footage.
•The lip-sync assassin of Season 5 is Coco Montrese, appearing in 4 lip syncs. Coco Montrese sent home Monica Beverly Hillz, Jade Jolie and Alyssa Edwards. She was sent home by Detox in her 4th lip-sync.
•This is the first Drag Race cast to feature 14 contestants.

- Draggle Rock. S5 E3. Feb 11, 2013. The queens connect with their inner child as they star in a fun-filled kids TV show. With guest judges Coco and supermodel Paulina Porizkova.
- Black Swan: Why It Gotta Be Black? S5 E4. Feb 18, 2013. The dolls enter the world of classical ballet, coached by Shaping Sound choreographer Travis Wall. With guest judges Chaz Bono and Travis Wall.
- Penny Tration. Penny Tration was the first queen of Drag Race to come in 14th place, as she was the first to be eliminated in season five. Since the show, Penny has been making her own drag wigs, promoting them on her Facebook, and even selling some on eBay.
- Serena ChaCha. Coming in at 13th place was Serena ChaCha. In the same year that she was on the show, she released a single and music video called "ChaCha," which includes some of her quotes from the show remixed into the song.
- Monica Beverly Hillz. Monica Beverly Hillz made history as the first contestant to come out as transgender on the show, and since then, she has been involved in a lot of activism.
- Vivienne Pinay. Vivienne Pinay was accused of "resting on pretty" during her time on the show, and she was eliminated fourth. Unlike many other season five queens, Michael Donehoo (Vivienne's real name) no longer performs as a drag queen.
