Albert gets a visit from the Inland Revenue investigating his claim for his wife, who has been dead for 30 years. Drastic action is needed, and drink and drag are involved.
Thirtysomething Harold and his elderly father Albert work as rag-and-bone men (collecting and selling junk). Harold is ambitious and wants to better himself, but his father always seems to ruin his plans, sometimes accidentally and other times deliberately. The pair live in squalor and the father has some disgusting personal habits which continuously embarrass the son.
