  5. The fact is despite "Descent" including possibly the greatest openings scene in Smallville history, the episode just keeps getting better as the story progresses. Lex continues his journey to the dark side, which includes it's most dramatic shift in this episode, and will come to it's climax in the season finale.

  6. Descent was so good! Lex once said that kings and queens would come to Lionel funeral whereas Jonathon Kent would have a funeral attended by his friends. Lionel has cast aside the kings and queens for a pursuit of good, yet he wasn't good enough to have friends attend his funeral.

  7. There's a lot to laugh about when it comes to Smallville, it's obviously a mid-2000's CW teen show with all of the associated cheese... but the characterization of Lex was prestige television. I genuinely believe his descent into evil over the course of six seasons is the best of its kind on TV.
