Isabella Brant, a portrait drawing, was executed in Antwerp around 1621, by Flemish artist and diplomat, Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640).
One of Rubens’ most arresting portrait studies, the recto of this sheet captures the likeness of Rubens’ first wife Isabella Brant. It was rendered in Rubens’ favoured technique of black chalk and white heightening with touches of red chalk that add warmth and place emphasis on the face.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Isabella Brant, a portrait drawing, was executed in Antwerp around 1621, by Flemish artist and diplomat, Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640). Brant (1591–1626) was Rubens' first wife and modelled for some of his portraits until her untimely death in 1626.
