Frederick Jackson Turner (November 14, 1861 – March 14, 1932) was an American historian during the early 20th century, based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison until 1910, and then Harvard University. He was known primarily for his frontier thesis.

Frederick Jackson Turner (November 14, 1861–March 14, 1932) was distinguished more for a seminal idea than for any particular work. He received his PhD at Johns Hopkins University in 1890, and taught first at the University of Wisconsin from 1889 to 1910 then at Harvard until 1924.
