The Lindenhof (lit.: courtyard of the lime) is a moraine hill and a public square in the historic center of Zürich, Switzerland. It is the site of the Roman and Carolingian era Kaiserpfalz around which the city has historically grown.
Jun 23, 2017 · Lindenhof is the oldest part of Zurich. It's up a steep hill in the middle of the West Bank by the river. It's just a small park with benches but the view is incredible. There is also a fountain, which you will need after hiking up the hill.

The Lindenhof, in the old town of Zürich, Switzerland, is the historical site of a Roman castle, and the later Carolingian Kaiserpfalz. It is situated on Lindenhof hill, on the left side of the Limmat at the Schipfe.
The Romans took over today’s Lindenhof in around 15 BC, building a fort on top of the hill and naming it ‘Turicum’ – which evolved into ‘Zurich’ as the centuries went by. The oldest mention of the name ‘Turicum’ was found on a 2nd-century Roman tombstone on the Lindenhof.
