The 10.5-acre site is bounded by NE 8th and NE 10th Streets to the north and south and 108th Avenue NE and 106 Avenue NE to the east and west. Developer Eugene Horback acquired the properties comprising the block over a 17-year period spanning the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Following the technology recession in the late 1990s the project faced bankruptcy. In an effort to save the project from foreclosure, Horback brought in Utah based partner Dell Loy Hansen and his company Wasatch Development Ass
Washington Square will have nearly 180,000 square feet of retail space. Tenants in the first 15,000 square feet to be completed are Top Pot Doughnuts and Shnoo Yogurt..
The two towers at Washington Square are constructed of steel reinforced concrete and are classified as "Type I Construction". Each tower is 24-stories to ensure slab thicknesses and columns spacing at efficiencies that match the seismic and wind loading in the Northwest. By post-tensioning the tower floor slabs the weight is reduced and the greater column spacing offers unit layouts with greater circulation and exterior views than if the columns were closer together.
DCI, the structural engineers for the Washington Square project, suggested an innovative structural system that further improved upon efficiency of a concrete tower and resulted in a stronger tower that was better able to address the seismic requirements of the building code. The concrete "shear core" which is normally located around the elevator shaft in high-rise construction was moved out from the elevator/stair core to the perimeter of the interior hallway which made it structurally stronger
The curtain wall system is a $6 million upgrade. Because the exterior is unencumbered by rectangular columns, it can be clad with a "curtain wall system" that is a metal panel with insulation within the panel itself. The curtain wall is hung from the edge of the building further isolating the interior from thermal extremes. In addition to the sleek exterior aesthetics, in a curtain wall system there are very few ledges or caulk joints through which moisture can enter. The Low E glass coating hel

This talk page has been mentioned by a media organization: Danny Westneat. "Is Bellevue a "new Brooklyn?"". The Seattle Times. Archived from the original on September 19, 2009. Retrieved March 30, 2020. Yet people can't bring themselves to call it a real city. At the Wikipedia online encyclopedia, the folks writing Bellevue's entry first labeled it a suburb, then a city, then back to suburb. After a big argument, they settled on the '90s term "edge city."
Truthfully, Bellevue is actually, the last time I checked, the FOURTH largest city in the state at this current time. As a resident of Bellevue, I'm trying not to be biased, but I seriously doubt that Bellevue can be considered a suburb of Seattle. Besides, you have to cross Mercer Island in order to get to Bellevue, which separates Seattle and Bellevue out in to two cities anyways. I don't know, feel free to give your opinion on this.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Xela267 This has ...
HELLO, I found an article that cites Bellevue as a "boomburb". http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003476791_danny14.html IF SOMEONE WOULD PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE CITATIONS, IT WOULD BE GREAT. THANK YOU. 18.104.22.168 20:10, 29 January 2007 HA! This discussion was mentioned in the paper! ^_^ However this article reflects Wikipedia, more than the other way around. If you can get a hold of some of his sources then you should reference them, but it seems illogical to cite his article

for Famous Residents?? Anyone? There are some controversy here alfiboy 21:46, 2 March 2007 Ideally, anyone that has an article in Wikipedia or holds/held a prominent position in something with an article. As an example, the CEO of Safeco or member of a band with an article probably warrants mention, but a member of a local band that doesn't have an article probably shouldn't get a mention. Realistically, whoever doesn't get deleted by another editor warrants inclusion. May also consider removing
I removed the crane accident because I don't feel it really tells you anything about the city. It really is a news item and belongs on http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/ However, its not really a news item either since it is written as history. I wouldn't make the event into its own catagory -- 2006 Crane Accident -- On the evening of November 16, 2006, a 210-foot tower construction crane toppled in downtown Bellevue, destroying much of the Plaza 305 building and causing extensive damage to an adjacen
