The museum is closed to the public Monday and Tuesday. Exhibits in this 78,000 square foot facility present the history of southeastern Michigan, and include the favorite and newly renovated Streets of Old Detroit, recreating Detroit street scenes from the 1840's, 1870's and early 1900's.
This is by far one of the best museums I've ever visited. As a history buff, although I adore the average history museum, this museum makes history come alive! In the "Streets of Old Detroit" exhibit, you can walk through three eras of Detroit history - the 1900s, the 1870s, and the 1850s.
