Jun 21, 2017 · Perhaps the best known use of Nyman’s music in a Greenaway film is a piece of music Nyman wrote during the 1985 Heysel Stadium disaster where a European Cup Final game between Liverpool and Juventus resulted with 39 fans crushed to death following hostilities instigated by English football fans.
However, before his success with The Piano, Nyman had a long association with the artist/director Peter Greenaway. Starting with The Falls, he wrote six scores for Greenaway films ending with Prospero’s Books in 1991. Greenaway’s films disgust and delight audiences by turns.

Jan 15, 2016 · One of the most famous pieces of music I wrote before the soundtrack to The Piano was called “Memorial” which was used by Peter Greenaway in The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, which was based on a piece that Purcell wrote in 1692.
