Mason and Dixon Survey. Mason and Dixon surveyed what would become the southern boundary of Franklin County that borders Maryland. The survey put an end to a century long boundary dispute between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Mason and Dixon began surveying in 1763, reaching what is now Franklin County in 1765.
